Mid-Century Modern Remodel
Process
The kitchen was opened up to connect it to a large family room with expansive outdoor views, and it was retrofitted with new appliances and cabinetry. Spray-foam insulation was added to improve the home’s comfort and energy efficiency. A patchwork of flooring was leveled and resurfaced with stained concrete for a uniform look. The master bath was rebuilt. The refresh was polished off with new doors and windows, fixtures, hardware, and fresh paint.
Setting
A neighborhood of expansive lots in southwest Austin
Goals
A family with young kids purchased this mid-century ranch-style home. It sits on a large, lovely lot in a neighborhood built in the 1960’s. The setting is beautiful and serene, but the house needed to be updated to make it a comfortable home.
Result
A cool, serene family home that’s now worthy of its lovely, wooded setting.
